The author obtains some results concerning the existence of bounded positive solutions of a class of nonlinear second-order differential equations of the form \[ x''+\frac{x'}{t}+f(t,x,x')=0,\quad t\geq 1, \] by using the Schauder-Tikhonov fixed-point theorem. These results are then used to show the existence of bounded positive solutions of a class of quasilinear elliptic equations in two-dimensional exterior domains.
