    The paper presents a finite-difference method within the framework of a meshless approach for solving quasi-one dimensional heat equation with variable coefficients. The governing equation in the context of annular fins of a hyperbolic profile is second order differential equation with variable coefficients. With suitable transformations the equation could be reduced to a generalized Bessel equation whose exact solution is available in the literature. The authors have presented a meshless finite difference approach for evaluating all the required parameters. It has been shown to be relatively easy in comparison to the evaluation based on modified Bessel of fractional order.
