\textit{I. Kra} [Acta Math. 146, 231--270 (1981; Zbl 0477.32024)] introduced a distance \(d_K\) on every hyperbolic Riemann surface using Teichmüller shift mappings and \textit{F. P. Gardiner} and \textit{N. Lakic} [Ann. Math. (2) 154, 245--267 (2001; Zbl 1045.30026)] consider a metric density \(\lambda\) of such surfaces. The scope of this paper are basic properties of this quantities and relations between them.
