The author gives a decision procedure for Hermitian solutions \(X\) of the algebraic Riccati inequality \(A^* A+ XA- XBB^* X+ Q\geq 0\) in the case when \((A, B)\) is not necessarily stabilizable but the zero structure of the pencil \(A- sIB\) with respect to the imaginary axis is nonderogatory.
