The authors discuss a problem in the design of instrumentation in the construction of superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs). It is shown that the design of such devices requires the solution of systems of algebraic equations. A method of solution of such equations is demonstrated which involves writing the given equations in terms of orthogonal polynomials, (Chebyshev first and second kind). Existence of the solution sets is demonstrated together with short investigation of their properties.
