The author obtains an inverse function theorem for functions on sequence spaces. For this no differentiability hypotheses on the function as a whole are given. An application of the above to a proof of the pseudo- stable manifold theorem is given. The paper has its origin to a problem suggested to the author by Charles Pugh.
