The paper under review is the fourth of the authors' series on the theme of integral closure and ramification of prime ideals in infinite field extensions. [For the three preceding papers see J. Algebra 136, No. 1, 197-247 (1991; Zbl 0815.13004), ibid. 143, No. 2, 436-469 (1991; Zbl 0755.14015) and 170, No. 3, 861-879 (1994; see the preceding review).] In this part of the paper the authors give several examples and counterexamples concerning the preservation of certain good ring- theoretic properties undergoing to the integral closure in infinite algebraic field extensions. These examples and counterexamples illustrate the theory developed in the first three parts of the paper.
