Considering a source distribution and a vortex distribution along a two- dimensional airfoil, the author reduces the problem of the unsteady flow around the airfoil to a singular integral equation for the velocity potential. Since the source and vortex strength distributions depend on their history, the integral equation is nonlinear. The nonlinear singular integral equation method is then applied to the determination of the velocity and pressure coefficient in a vertical axis wind turbine by assuming constant vortex distribution.
