The \(n\)-groupoids provide an alternative approach to simplicial sets when trying to realize cohomology groups. The author investigates the pasting properties of \(n\)-categories in the special case of \(n\)-groupoids and relates them with corresponding constructions for simplicial sets. The main results are generalizations, at the level of \(n\)-groupoids, of monodicity and comonodicity theorems holding for the category of groupoids over that of split epimorphisms, and the category of 2- groupoids over that of groupoids.
