The approximation theorem of Behnke and Stein (1948) is shown for the special case of a punctured surface in essentially the same way as Behnke and Stein did. More recent results about approximation on Riemann surfaces can be found in \textit{G. Schmieder}: Approximation auf abgeschlossenen Teilen Riemannscher Flächen, Manuscr. Math. 46, 165-192 (1984; Zbl 0537.30026).
