In this paper are studied the sets of linear spaces of type \((0,n)_1\), that are the sets which meet a line in zero or \(n\) points. The results obtained are applied to subsets of a finite projective plane of order \(q\). In particular the inclusion relations between them and the \((q + 2)\)-arcs are studied.
