The authors offer a proof that the identical disappearence of the \(n\)-th difference with variable single span and of the \(n\)-th Dinghas derivative [cf. \textit{A. Dinghas}, Ann. Acad. Sci., Fenn., Ser. A I 375 (1966; Zbl 0143.30602)] on a proper interval are equivalent.
