Weight filtrations via commuting automorphisms (Q1895847)

In the quest of filtrations on algebraic \(K\)-theory and Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequences for ``motivic cohomology'' the approach proposed in this paper is of taking a space \(K(R)\) associated to a regular Noetherian ring \(R\) whose homotopy groups are the \(K\)-groups and to produce a filtration \(W^t\) of it such that (A) \(W^t/W^{t + 1}\) is the geometric realization of a simplicial abelian group and (B) the Adams operations act as they should on the filtration. The proposed filtration is due to Goodwillie and Lichtenbaum and it is proved that (A) is fulfilled.
