The paper deals with one-dimensional weakly singular integral equations studied already in great detail in the literature. Here structural properties of the integral operator with integrable potential and fixed singularities in \(C[0,1]\) and in weighted \(L^p\)-spaces are given. Further the convergence of collocation with piecewise linear functions and the Galerkin method with piecewise constant functions are investigated.
