The main theoretical task we untertake in this paper is to present an evolutionary approach to modeling of cooperative behavior, to describe various suggested models and to perform a comparative analysis of these models. In Sec. 2 we consider the theory of cooperative behavior applied to biological evolution and urgent socio-economic problems. The paper has the following structure: Section 1. The evolutionary principle of modeling and optimality criteria of cooperative behavior. 1.1. The evolutionary principle and relevant approaches. 1.2. Optimality criteria consistent with the natural selection principle. 1.3. Relations between various optimality concepts and evolutionary models of cooperative behavior. 1.4. Models for selecting inheritance mechanisms. 1.5. Consistent evolutionary models. 1.6. Some generalizations. 1.7. Optimality criteria of cooperative behavior for interactions of some classes. 1.7.1. Random collisions. 1.7.2. Recurrent relations in randomly formed small groups. 1.7.3. Cooperative interactions. 1.8. Conclusions. Section 2. Some applications. 2.1. On transmission of ``social'' behavior forms in biological populations. 2.2. Issues pertaining to commodity market. 2.3. Conditions of perfect competition.
