A far-reaching generalization of the term resultant of two polynomials in one variable is given, not only including multivariate resultants as a special case but also subresultants of two polynomials. The notion of multivariate subresultants is defined for \(s\) homogeneous polynomials in \(n \geq s\) indeterminates. Some general properties are derived and two examples are computed.
