The asymptotic properties of the solutions of the Lotka-Volterra system \(x_i' = x_i \sum^n_{j = 1} a_{ij} (x_j - x_j^*)\), \(i = 1,2, \dots, n\) are discussed. The conditions allow the solutions to show complicated global asymptotic behaviours; e.g. the LaSalle invariant sets can have nonconstant periodic solutions.
