The author proves that a consequence of a 1992 result of \textit{L. M. Adleman} and \textit{M.-D. Huang} [Lect. Notes Math. 1512 (1992; Zbl 0744.11065)] implies that there infinitely many real quadratic function fields (over finite fields) of class number one.
