[The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually.] Unhappily the title of this collection of highly informative reviews is too vague for mobilizing the potential reader. In fact, the topics focus on those physical stellar processes which go on in the most exciting types of stars ranging from the Sun to black holes and exploding stars. The Editor lists the following keywords: stellar evolution, solar neutrinos, stellar rotation and spindown, convection and mixing, neutron stars, and novae. The subjects can be grouped into three interrelated areas: stellar structure (in particular, chemical evolution and solar structure), superdense stars (white dwarfs, neutron stars, and novae), and convective and other kinds of mass transport. Altogether the topics draw a fairly representative panorama of today's stellar physics. As such, the book should be in the reach of not only every astrophysicist but also of experts in adjacent domains. As for its mathematical tools, stellar physics is heavily dependent on numerical techniques, their typical examples can be found in the book, too.
