The problem of describing the branching rules of a standard module of an affine Lie algebra \(\widehat {\mathfrak {g}}\) with respect to a subalgebra \(\widehat {\mathfrak {p}}\) had been studied by \textit{V. G. Kac} and \textit{M. Wakimoto} [Adv. Math. 70, 156-234 (1988; Zbl 0661.17016)]. In the present work the authors give explicit formulas for the branching rules in some special cases.
