In 1980, at the second international conference in Oberwolfach, R. Bellman conjectured the following inequality: \(\text{tr} (AB)^m \leq \text{tr} (A^m B^m)\), \(m = 1,2,3, \dots\) for \(A,B \in S_k\). In this paper the author treats this conjecture for various orders \(k\) and solves the case \(k = 2\).
