The paper reviews some concepts important for surface quality analysis. Curvature properties can visually be understood by computing and rendering so-called ``focal surfaces''. This is the primary technique discussed in this paper. The Bézier representation is used in the context of reviewing various quality-related surface properties. The advantages of a Bézier representation are clearly pointed out when dealing with surface quality analysis issues.
