The author consider composites with plastic properties possessing translational and isotropic strengthening. Using asymptotic analysis, the governing equations are solved approximately. For the collapse load analysis, a loading parameter is introduced, and equilibrium equations and loading surface description lead to a control problem that, in turn, can be replaced by a variational problem. After introducing a fictitious Hooke's law, the variational problem can be reduced to a nonlinear system which is solved by simple iterations. Finally, it is reported how this method can be used to find collapse loads for different structures.
