A newly developed method to determine flow stress of a material has been proposed. This method, named \(FC\)-method, is an application of inverse analysis. Since \(FC\)-method does not need uniformity of deformation which is the requirement for conventional methods, flow stress of a material expressed as a function of unknown material constants is obtained with good accuracy up to large strain range. Numerical study to verify \(FC\)- method was carried out using ring compression problem of type 304 stainless steel between two parallel plane dies.
