Elaborating on the earlier results of \textit{E. P. Dolzhenko} [Mat. Sb.,N. Ser. 69(111), 497-524 (1966; Zbl 0163.31002)], \textit{E. A. Sevast'yakov} [Mat. Sb., n. Ser. 107(149), 227-244 (1978; Zbl 0398.42007)] and the author [Izv. Akad. Nauk BSSR, Ser. Fiz.-Mat. Nauk 1980, No. 5, 21 (1980; Zbl 0451.41009); Mat. Sb. Nov. Ser. 133(175), No. 1(5), 86-102 (1987; Zbl 0656.30031)], direct and inverse theorems concerning the best uniform rational approximations in the Hardy-Sobolev spaces are extended from the unit disk to the half-plane, half-line, and a segment. The extensions are not routine and require developing some additional techniques.
