The model of Haasen, Alexander and coworkers is extended to include evolution of the coefficient in the dependence of internal stress on the square root of dislocation density. Phenomenological description of the evolution of dislocation substructure becomes possible in a continuum model. The model is applied to inelastic behavior of CdTe single crystals. Model parameters and temperature-dependent functions are determined from the experimental data in isothermal test. The proposed approach is capable of achieving a reasonable correlation between data from the room temperature to ones near the melting point.
