The following three systems with linear damping and having single degree of freedom are considered: 1) a curved two-dimensional rod moving in a viscous medium; 2) a slender hoop rolling on a flat surface: 3) a rod pinned to a rigid support. It has been shown that, although the three systems are quite different, the equations of motion and hence their solutions are identical.
