The title problem is investigated using rectangular four node finite elements. A series of numerical solutions are obtained with the aim of studying the effects of various parameters (lay-up, side to thickness ratio, aspect ratio), types of loadings (uniaxial/biaxial, positive and negative shear/tension-compression/compression-tension), and boundary conditions. Some important observations are obtained from the study of these effects.
