The article is concerned with Ptolemy's Planisphaerium and its commentated Arabic and Latin translations. While Ptolemy avoids proving the universal circle-circle property of the stereographic projection, a proof appears in commentated versions attributed to Maslama. This is explained in detail. The views of Neugebauer and Berggren on the subject matter are challenged.
