The author considers nonlinear Volterra integral equations. A uniformly valid asymptotic expansion for the solution to a class of singularly perturbed integral equations of this type displaying exponential boundary layer behaviour is established. Certain quasilinear ordinary differential equations are noted as special cases, and a model for population growth with attrition is briefly discussed.
