The author discusses two kinds of stick charts used in navigation by Marshall islanders. The first kind turns out to be a model of how to determine the direction of the nearest island from the angles between waves created by the steady winds and the swells created by the reflection of these waves by islands. The other kinds are geographical maps with indications of currents between the islands.
