This article is essentially a commentary with excerpts in English on a letter, written by the function theorist and ardent Nazi Oswald Teichmüller (1913-1943) on November 3, 1933, to his teacher Edmund Landau (1877-1938). The letter was written one day after the boycott, led by Teichmüller, of Landau's lecture at the University of Göttingen. A copy of the letter was found by \textit{N. Schappacher} and \textit{E. Scholz} who published it as an appendix to their article on Teichmüller in Jahresber. Dtsch. Math.-Ver. 94, No. 1, 1-39 (1992; Zbl 0751.01013). The letter contains unashamed passages as the following: ``I am not concerned with making difficulties for you as a Jew, but only with protecting -- above all -- German students of the second semester from being taught differential and integral calculus by a teacher of a race quite foreign to them''.
