Compactifications of the period space of Enriques surfaces. II (Q1909556)

This paper is a continuation of part I of the author's same titled paper [ibid. 207, No. 1, 1-36 (1991; Zbl 0736.14017)]. Its aim is to show first how Shah's results on degenerations of Enriques surfaces [\textit{J. Shah}, Math. Ann. 256, 475-495 (1981; Zbl 0445.14015)], which are stated in terms of Mumford's geometric invariant theory, can be used to compactify the moduli space of Enriques surfaces of degree 2 and to show then how this space can be linked to a semi-toric compactification of the period space of such surfaces. The technique of semi-toric (partial) compactifications is due to Looijenga.
