This survey is intended to complement the book of \textit{G. Beer}, ``Topologies on closed and closed convex sets'' (1993; Zbl 0792.54008) and his survey paper on Wijsman and other forms of set convergence [Set-Valued Anal. 2, No. 1-2, 77-94 (1994; Zbl 0812.54014)]. In the first section, the authors present some properties of Kadec-Klee norms; their interplay with set convergence is discussed in the rest of the paper. The second section is devoted to renorming and set convergence. Many of the results in the third section have not been explicitely stated elsewhere: it is shown that under the existence of certain Kadec-Klee renormings some weaker forms of epi-convergence actually imply much stronger forms of epi-convergence. The fourth section describes Beer's result concerning Wijsman convergence with respect to each equivalent norm and some of its implications. The general results are complemented by many examples, remarks and open questions.
