From their work on automorphic forms \textit{H. Farkas} and \textit{I. Kra} [Isr. J. Math. 82, 87-131 (1993; Zbl 0799.11011)] discovered two identities involving cubes of Jacobi theta functions. These were subsequently generalized to \(p\)th powers by \textit{H. Farkas} and \textit{Y. Kopeliovich} [Isr. J. Math. 82, 133-140 (1993; Zbl 0786.11022)] using the theory of elliptic functions. This paper gives short combinatorial proofs of these identities.
