The authors consider problems associated with open cylindrical resonators with irregular boundaries. The permeability is constant everywhere and the dielectric constant also outside a circular cross section. They introduce the idea of generalized solutions and discuss the existence and uniqueness of such solutions. The spectra of the associated eigenvalue problems are also considered.
