The authors give a short and elegant new proof of the reviewer's theorem classifying the extrinsic symmetric submanifolds of spheres as the orbits of \(s\)-representations. They also clarify the relations to [\textit{J. Dadok}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 288, 125-137 (1985; Zbl 0565.22010)].
