The author nostalgicly reminds some of his ``Russian'' results since 1960 and simultaneously presents six open semigroup problems. At the end of the article he gives a new proof for the embedding of an inversive (= inverse) semigroup into a semigroup of group cosets [a theorem of \textit{D. McAlister}, Semigroup Forum 20, 255-267 (1980; Zbl 0441.20045)].
