Let \(A_1\), \(A_2\), and \(A_3\) be coprime polynomials in \(F_q[T]\). The author obtains asymptotic estimates for the number of representations of \(M\in F_q[T]\) as \(M= A_1 P_1+ A_2 P_2+ A_3 P_3\) with irreducible polynomials \(P_i\) subject to degree conditions. The circle method is used.
