The first author presented a class of compacta on which cell-like maps cannot raise dimension [Topology Appl. 41, 247-254 (1991; Zbl 0772.54026)]. That class is expanded in the present paper -- the authors prove that all compact metric spaces contain compacta of codimension one on which cell-like maps do not raise dimension.
