The main theme of this paper is to investigate for a discretized one-dimensional nonlinear reaction-convection-diffusion equation the problem that the long-time numerical solution may fail to converge to the true steady state and may, instead, diverge, or settle down to a spurious value. The aim of the authors is to look at the effect of a convection term on the existence and stability of the true fixed point and of the spurious fixed point.
