It is proved that \(f : [0,1] \to R\) is first universally return approachable iff it is Baire 1 and its graph has no isolated points. Moreover, if \((x_n)\) is a trajectory then the set of points at which \(f\) is first return approachable with respect to \((x_n)\) but not first return continuous with respect to \((x_n)\) is a \(\sigma\)-porous set.
