In ``Analytic homomorphisms into Drinfeld modules'' [Ann. Math. (to appear)] \textit{J. Yu} established an analog for function fields of the ``multiplicity lemma'' of G. Wüstholz. In the present paper, a variant of this result is established and applications are given to the values of the Carlitz exponential and its derivatives with respect to \(T\).
