The first part of the paper shows test results of long sum computations performed on a supercomputer Cray Y-MP2E. The accuracy of the computations was compared when they were executed first in scalar mode and then in vector mode. -- The second part reports on the interval library libavi.a developed for the use on Cray supercomputers.
