In a previous paper [Math. Comput. 55, No. 191, 37-53 (1990; Zbl 0716.39005)] the authors investigated maximum principles and related results for positive difference operators on cubic meshes. In this paper such results are extended to more general meshes, subject to a constraint which limits the grid distortion.
