After \textit{M. Hall jun.}'s paper on projective planes [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 54, 229-277 (1943; Zbl 0060.32209)] the number of types of free constructions introduced into geometry has increased steadily. In an earlier paper [Cont. Math. 131, 531-550 (1992; Zbl 0766.51003)] the author introduced free geometries in terms of simple extensions. The present paper is a `follow up' of this. This point of view embeds a family of such constructions, herein called the free locally affine planes, into the discipline of partial order -- which brings in a lot of technical simplification.
