Extrapolation methods for hyperbolic systems with relaxation (Q1919386)

The authors apply the splitting scheme to the numerical solution of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with nonlinear source term. The presentation is given on the example of the Broadwell system. Using Richardson extrapolation a third-order scheme is presented both in space and time. In the end, two test problems are considered. The advantages of the proposed scheme over other existing schemes are demonstrated by numerical results.
