The physics of hadron-hadron and hadron-nucleus interactions at intermediate energies requires to take into account explicitly three-body scattering channels on the basis of relativistic formalism. For this purpose, a three-dimensional Poincaré-invariant approach to the relativistic three-body problem is developed. The approach meets the requirement of cluster separability, thus avoiding the spurious states. So, it is possible to fix the form of two-body (scattering) interactions. Two alternative formulations of the method are studied. In the first formulation, equations are written out for amplitudes of transitions between free-particle states. In the second formulation, the states of the interacting particles in the two-body scattering channels are used as complete orthogonal bases.
