This is a fundamental work about the approximation of \(f_0 (x_0)\) for \(x_0\in E\), \(f_0 \in E^*\) in a situation where \(x_0\) is given approximately, with a small error in a norm which is weaker than the norm of the space \(E\). The theoretical aspects of this ill-posed problem are investigated and suitable regularizations are proposed.
