The authors deal with the ``inverse problem'' to construct an analytic vector field in the plane in such a way that it is compatible with a finite number of prescribed trajectories or solutions. In particular they construct a polynomial vector field from given conics (ellipses, hyperbolas, parabolas, straight lines) and determine a differential equation in the complex domain from a finite number of solutions.
